Well, I did it! This morning I completed my first 5k at the Dash Down Greenville race and fun run. I woke up several times last night afraid that I'd oversleep =)
This was my first race, and I thought having to weave in and out of walkers who'd lined up near the front was the most frustrating thing.
I was happy with my time - finishing in 34mins and 24 secs, I came in 127th in my age group and 1,990th overall out of 2,995 timed runners.
Today's photos were taken after the race - the first is the beer line =) A local brewery out of Ft Worth, Rahr & Sons, supplied the beer. They had both blonde and dark.
After about 4 cups I was able to determine it was some really good beer! But, then again, a free dark beer is always good =) It reminded me of a fraternity party trying to push my way up to the keg.
When I got home after the race I laid down and slept the rest of the afternoon away... all the anticipation and anxiety had worn me out more than the race itself =)
Now, I have my next race scheduled for March 27th in Kaufman - the Spring into Action Fun Run and Walk. I have 2 weeks now to work out and improve my time!

Congratulations on finishing. It looks like you finished in the middle of the pack which is pretty darned good I'd say. Rest up, eat well and be ready for that next race.
Congratulations, Brian! I'm so proud of you - You're my HERO!
Hooray for Brian! And happy birthday, early.
Gee, I love that Plymouth in Waxahachie.
