2 months of 2011 passed and only 10 to go.

1/6 of the year is over. 59 of 365 days gone.

unfortunately, only 1 workday down this week. 4 more til the next weekend.

cowtown 5k and 10k cont.

one more shot from the race yesterday... i really enjoyed the course and setting on this 10k - but looking forward to the capital 10k in Austin on march 27th =)

i also have the mardi gras 5k this coming saturday, march 5 and the dash down greenville 5k the following saturday, march 12! =)

cowtown 5k and 10k

A few photos taken at the Cowtown 5k and 10k in Ft Worth this morning. I came close to my personal record, but couldn't quite beat it. I finished in 1:09:49 today, with my best being 1:09:37.

Hopefully I can make or beat that record at the Austin American Statesman's Capital 10k run in Austin next month!

what's old is new

i've always appreciated when old homes or buildings are restored instead of being torn down and replaced. today's photo is a mid-renovation pic of the old post office - a follow up to yesterday's post.

i'll post another photo in the next week with a completed view. this week they've been working on installing new sprinklers and landscaping =)

hump-day mash-up

today's photo is the old post office building located on Frances Street in downtown Terrell - this was taken the week before the PO moved over to the new facility on highway 34.

I'll follow up tomorrow with an updated photo of the building following some major renovations by American National Bank.

Oh... don't look too close at the photo, it was a quick 'job' =) my photo had a white, washed out sky - and thought a blue sky might brighten it up. Of course, the first blue sky I found was from the No 1 BFTS Fly In from last fall =) so here's a fly in post office mash-up!

breakfast for dinner

i'm a big fan of breakfast food, and always enjoy a new recipe. The Tribune is on the lookout for some recipes that will be shared in the Sunday Lifestyles section - so click over and submit your favorite on facebook or you can click here to email your recipe to them!

my monday breakfast/dinner casserole:

Cheesy Sausage and egg casserole

6 Eggs, beaten

1 small pkg sausage, browned and drained

1 pkg crescent rolls

2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or velveeta)

1 onion, chopped (optional)

Directions: Brown sausage and onion and drain. Spray an 8'' x 11" pan with cooking spray or Pam. Unfold and lay crescent rolls in bottom of dish. Spread cooked sausage evenly over crescent rolls. Mix eggs together and pour into dish over sausage. Spread cheese over the top of the casserole and bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees, or until golden brown on top.

i actually used a white mexican shredded cheese on mine, and it turned out great!

dead things

today's photo is my original 'monthly tree'. It's the dead, brown pine tree in front of the vibrant green one. =)

when i took my first pic last month, both trees were covered with ice - so, i didn't notice it was dead =)

this week has been busy - still working on a project at work, and at home kicking up the exercise program by starting back on p90x. all we did so far was push ups and pull ups, but i feel muscles that i haven't felt for a year... (since the last time on p90x =))

keep your head up

it's always a good idea to keep an eye on the road ahead for obstacles (or oncoming trains)...

and have an escape route (or a nearby unused track)...

a year in the life of a tree

last month i started a monthly photo series featuring the life of a tree... part of a new series that Cilla started over at her blog, A Swede Lost in Texas. Unfortunately, the tree I picked in January turned out to be dead. Had it not been covered in ice last month, perhaps I would've known.

So, I picked out a new, healthy tree... and i'm starting over!

today's photo will be my monthly tree for the remainder of 2011. whether it dies or not!

saturday scrimmage

so long cold weather, and hello beautiful, warm Saturday !

the weather was amazing out at ben gill park this afternoon for the scrimmage between rockwall and terrell.

my 5k time this morning? not so amazing... i got a cramp, and ended up walking quite a bit. finished in 36:12... should be an easy time to beat on the next race!

friday ... happy

and tired... the last few weeks have been a busy blur at work with a software upgrade and a couple 'winter' incidents =)

forecast is warmer for the next week though! there's something at the end of the rainbow, i'm sure...

another monday?

well, to be fair.. my pc problems started before monday.. and continued into tuesday.

but as of now, after a complete restore, i'm up and running. fingers crossed, and rubber bands and duct tape in place. on my new 5 month old dell computer.

it was a software problem. not covered under warranty.

well, i made it back home tonight... work project is about 30% complete for this week's stage. And the rest should go smoothly tomorrow with our newly gained experience =0

i'm ready for a weekend. but happy to have a job too =)

i really prefer the view from my living room couch ... but today's photos are from my temporary home near work, in Plano, Texas (at the intersection of George Bush (190) and Jupiter Rd). one of the necessary evils when you live an hour away from work and experience a 'storm of the century' =)

my room number is 511, and my home address is 511... coincidence?

my temporary home (candlewood suites) hates msnbc. my home likes it. =)
