Well, I did it! This morning I completed my first 5k at the Dash Down Greenville race and fun run. I woke up several times last night afraid that I'd oversleep =)
This was my first race, and I thought having to weave in and out of walkers who'd lined up near the front was the most frustrating thing.
I was happy with my time - finishing in 34mins and 24 secs, I came in 127th in my age group and 1,990th overall out of 2,995
timed runners.
Today's photos were taken after the race - the first is the beer line =) A local brewery out of Ft Worth,
Rahr & Sons, supplied the beer. They had both blonde and dark.
After about 4 cups I was able to determine it was some really good beer! But, then again, a free dark beer is always good =) It reminded me of a fraternity party trying to push my way up to the keg.
When I got home after the race I laid down and slept the rest of the afternoon away... all the anticipation and anxiety had worn me out more than the race itself =)
Now, I have my next race scheduled for March 27th in Kaufman - the
Spring into Action Fun Run and Walk. I have 2 weeks now to work out and improve my time!
