dusky blurs

this photo depicts how my day went on tuesday - a hazy blur... but i love the colors in the dusk, even if it doesn't look exactly like the real thing did =)

jim and i are a little ahead in the half marathon training... we'll be doing a 20k (12.4 miles) on oct 9th - a full month before the half in san antonio... so we're going to have to maintain the long distance for a month to keep ready.

still hard to believe that i'll be doing either a 20k or a half. i didn't expect to run more than a 10k per month this year =) hopefully i'll still have a tendon and hip able to walk on when it's all said and done...

baby steps

today i accomplished something i've never done before - i ran non-stop for 9.3 miles! i finished the autumn equinox 15k with a decent 1:42:02 time. pretty proud of myself!

my next 'long' run will be the lost dog 20k on oct 9th... yeah me!

friday night fright

a little scared about running a 15k in the morning. but, they are serving beer afterward so that calms me down some =)

i've ran around parts of white rock lake before, but never the entire circumference of the lake. should be interesting...

1 more day til the big 15k on Saturday! this will be my longest run yet - 9.3 miles! it's still hard for me to believe... after this, i'll just need to get up 4 more miles to 13.1 to be ready for the half in november!

fly by!

i've always wanted to fly in an open bi-plane like the blue and yellow one here... no flips, loops or tricks - just a regular 'ole flight =)

plano balloon festival 5k

jim and i got up extra early today in hopes of taking pics of the 'balloon glow' in the early morning hours of the plano balloon festival... and possibly the balloon launch before or after our race.

Texas weather - scattered storms and high winds - kept both from happening today. but it's ok! had a great time at the race, and we did, at least, get to see a few balloons up close and blown up!

there were quite a few people on the balloon fest facebook site that were upset about no glow and no launch. i think it's most important to regard the safety of the pilots and other attendees instead of complaining when something goes wrong. stuff goes wrong. weather changes. it'll be alright! calm down everyone! =)

where'd the weekend go anyway? next weekend is my first 15k - that's 9.3 miles!! yikes!

well... i made it thru my 8 mile run tonight in 1 hour and 29 minutes! a little sore now, but it was a nice run.

well, i got my wish! we started out the day with some rain today!! and finished up with some sun.

it was a nice day. tomorrow is the long run for our marathon training... 8 miles. i think i'd rather watch the movie =)

cooler weather and rain?

rain in the forecast? we definitely need it! and chances increase beginning on Thursday.

up a little late tonight, considering i have a 5k race in the morning. funny, a year ago a 5k race would have me nervous and sleeping restlessly all night... now, it's no big thing.

just need to increase my distance to 13 miles now!! i have exactly 9 weeks to go from my longest ever run of 7 miles up to 13...

tonight's photo is me as i finished a 7 mile run across lake ray hubbard this evening... it hurt, but i finished with an awesome time and was quite proud of myself... i did 7 miles in 1:17:38 =)

sometimes i wish we had a riverwalk or a square or some point of interest to draw people more to the downtown area.

Books and Crannies, located in the old Iris theater is great for local plays and productions... but the strip needs something else.....

it was a beautiful weekend that ended with some awesome weather on labor day !

the temp as i finished my 10k this morning was 69 degrees! the wind and cooler temps felt great today.... now, if we can just get some rain!
