Cheap Gas in Terrell

Since my back started feeling better, I decided to get out and get some exercise yesterday by walking from my house to downtown Terrell… I live just a few blocks away, so I can walk down and back without getting too tired =)

I found these gas pumps at an old Texaco on Rockwall street, a block from downtown. It’s funny to think that kids earning their driver’s licenses right now will probably never use a pump like this. It would probably confuse them trying to find where to swipe their card also…

I’m not sure exactly when this station closed, but the ‘Regular’ grade gasoline was $1.439 a gallon and the ‘Premium’ was $1.609 a gallon. It’s a little difficult to see, but each pump has a sign on the side warning that the gasoline contains Lead… and a little less difficult to see would be my shadow portrait to the bottom left ;-)

How neat! I miss things of the past. That gas price though dosn't seem that long ago. I remember right before the war, we were able to get regular for less than a dollar in Missouri. Now that I think about it, that was 7 years ago...where does the time go?

Oh, but those prices haven't been that long ago! Maybe 3 years?

That's a great picture. The time frame is confusing. It doesn't seem right that the prices were that high when there was still leaded gas. That's the kind of thing that people catch in movies and comment how it's a mistake in the set construction - but this looks like real life. Explanation?

Nice shot!

How about this election? I don't have much hair left.

Sorry to hear about your back. I'll take my shoulder over back problems!! I have an update on my blog about my surgery. Thanks for understanding!

We still have leaded gas here.

I love the second pump with the plant growing inside it. A lovely thought that nature will survive after our exploiting her.
