The Fly #1 'Theme Day Photo for 2008'

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Ok... it was a difficult decision to choose one 'best' photo out of so many over the past year. I originally planned to choose one of the 'cigarette' photos, in order to note how proud I was of myself for quitting smoking last June. It's been a little over 6 months smoke-free now, and I feel so much better not smoking....

After stopping smoking, I started a workout program at the local gym and started walking around my neighborhood for additional exercise. I often take my camera when I'm out walking, and it was during one of these 'walking photo shoots' that I happened upon a small patch of white flowers that I wanted to take a macro photo of. I was zoomed in and about to take my flower photo when this fly entered the scene and decided to stick around. I moved and got in closer and he never budged =) Anyway, I've been lucky enough to capture several bugs and insects over the last year on macro, but really loved the way the colors and all turned out on this one =)

Please take some time to peruse through all the other City Daily Photo Blogs participating in the theme day!! All these people have selected their favorite photos for the year also!

I do like this photo, Brian, and I agree with Jim. . .who, by the way, told me you are going to Las Vegas at the end of February. You do know that we're moving back there, don't you (*WHEN* our house here sells in this fantastic market :-P)? Y'all could visit us if we were there. Actually, we're thinking about going there end of Feb/early March, too, depending on the house. Sigh.

We have about 20 days. . . . .It seemed so far away even a month ago. Let's hope for the best.

Cheers for a great 2009! May 2009 find us more peaceful, optimistic and blessed!

Brian, you made the right choice! I've clicked on this photo so that I can see it up close and personal. It's stupendous in its detail and clarity. Congrats!

What a brilliant choice. You really captured the shine of the fly's body. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got for us in 2009 :)

It's a great shot alright, and it joins half a dozen bees on the portal today!

I hope you have a fantastic 2009!

This is superb, Brian. Macro photography intrigues me although so far I'd not had any success. I'm not surprised you are pleased with this and I love the way you got it. Hope you have managed to stick with the no smoking.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy new year.
