Old Red Caboose - Forney Texas

This is an old red caboose located right near the downtown Forney historical area, by the train tracks (duh). This is the caboose that the red 'Missouri Pacific Lines' sign came from on Saturday's post...

Beautiful pic. I love the contrasting colors. What else is in the historical area?

Shame on the city of forney for letting it get to be almost an eyesore as of today 7/1/2020. I remember when Doris Hamblin got that caboose display to happen. It commemorated when the railroad came through Forney and turned it into a booming town with 6 or 7 cotton gins, new car dealers, movie theaters and banks etc. There was a town called Union Hill a few miles south of Forney of about the same size. It died off with the rail line in Forney. The location is where the road Union Hill is today. The road was give that historically significant name by Vonnie Robertson who live on that road. Of course the boomtown nature of Forney now is due to arrival of the Walmart and all that followed.
