it's been over a week now with no computer. i've managed to use my old pc a little - it overheats after being on about 10-15 minutes, and the boot-up process takes a while =)
Dell called me on my cell phone tonight to let me know the new pc should be delivered tomorrow.
Fingers crossed. I'll keep an eye out!
